Summary: | In partnership with Vinyl Me Please, the Grateful Dead have brought to market arguably the most complete and utterly stunning collection that any band across any genre has contemplated. Containing eight previously released albums - four recorded in the studio and four recorded live - across 14 vinyl records, The Story of the Grateful Dead is a complete college curriculum on the band's music, their story arc, and the influence that they have had on the world of art and creativity. The only time I remember a distinct repeat in format was when we did a box set called The Golden Road, and it was all of the Warner Bros, records remastered on CD with a lot of bonus material. How will this project in 50 years - or even in two years - represent the band's legacy? I ask myself, "Is this going to resonate with newer Dead Heads and hardcore fans alike?" Don't forget I'm a huge Dead Head. |
