Summary:The paper is concerned with the axisymmetric problem of the vibration of an orthotropic infinite cylinder under the effect of a vibrating punch rigidly coupled with the cylinder. In the general case, the problem is shown to reduce to a system of integral equations of the first kind to solve for the contact stresses. A method for constructing an approximate solution is proposed, and a numerical example is presented.
