Chlorine evolution and reduction processes at oriented single-crystal RuO sub 2 electrodes
Cl sub 2 forms from HCl solutions by the formation of OCl sup + on O sites of (110) surfaces of RuO followed by reaction with Cl- . Electrocatalytic behavior results from competitive adsorption followed by an Ru valence change.
