Summary:Comprised predominantly of string players, Camerata Notturna has thus far performed seven concerts before full, enthusiastic audiences on Manhattan's Upper West Side, with repertoire ranging from Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, and Copland's Appalachian Spring to an equally impressive slate of contemporary and lesser-known works. In earlier programs this season, Camerata performed the world premiere of Leaving Sao for Chinese Folk Voice and String Orchestra (2006) by Huang Ruo, and the US premiere of Kurt Magnus Atterberg's Sinfonia per archi, Op. 53, the orchestral version of a string quintet composed in 1953.
