Summary:Agricultural crop residues are usually left in the field or accumulated during sorting and cleaning of the product. One of the main difficulties in choosing the most appropriate method of valorising this by-product is the variability of the raw materials as well as their composition. Several strategies and technologies of valorisation are available; the most promising are the continuous Simultaneous Saccharification and Extractive Fermentation (SSEF) and the two-stage continuous acid hydrolysis and fermentation. Although the proposed method is general and can be applied to any technology the SSEF is used in this work as an example. To overcome t
