Summary:[Nicholas White] plays with very intense but natural rhythm and vitality, which amplify his communicativeness in almost everything here. The Passacaglia begins ff, but in variation 3 already drops back to a lower terrace of volume, and most of the middle section is done on quieter registers. Variations 16-20 are again ff. In '0 [Mensch], bewein' we hear the mellifluous Cornet combination of the organ-a noble sound for the lavishly ornamented cantus firmus. But the slow tempo keeps the music earth-bound.
