Summary: | Dickey describes some old-fashioned common lilac. These include Syringa vulgaris, which has a twisted shaggy trucks and glorious purple and white plumes, S. meyeri, which has a tiny leaves of dark green, not bigger than a thumbnail, and a densely compact habit, topping out at five feet, and S. pubescens subsp. patula 'Miss Kim', the finest example of the clan that grows to about six or seven feet with a graceful habit and healthy foliage that runs a beautiful coppery bronze in autumn. |
