Summary: | Work-related stress can cause illness, leading to prolonged absence and severe difficulties for organizations. Stress can also provoke changes in behavior, such as irritability and anxiety, and lead to depression and other serious mental illnesses. Recent findings suggest that directors are taking these matters more and more seriously. An NOP business survey of 500 IoD members showed that the vast majority agreed with the suggestion that employers have a key role to play in dealing with stress at work. |
