Summary:Heavy metals represent a serious problem for human health because of their high toxicity. The presence of lead in drinking water is due to a house's plumbing and distribution network. In fact, even if lead pipes have been removed, soldered joints are made of alloys containing lead and zinc. New European directives will impose an important reduction of lead in drinking waters in a few years. Lead toxicity depends on its chemical form. It is then important to be able to separate and quantify these species. The aim of this study is the validation and the optimisation of different speciation techniques in order to determine and quantify lead in water.
