Summary: | Through a series of back-and-forth queries, the Macintosh and the printer determine the location of the fonts in a print job. If they are not in the printer, the Mac automatically downloads them from its own hard drive, but the download takes time. Repetitive automatic downloads can be avoided by using a utility to download frequently used fonts into a printer's memory in advance. When the Mac asks the printer whether the font is available, the printer says "yes," so the Mac does not have to download it. |
