Summary:300 works, including 107 by Picasso, drawn from prestigious museum and private collections, are on display at the Musée du Quai Branly through 23 July 2017 in its "Picasso primitif" ("Picasso primitive") show. While it is true that the mere mention of Picasso's name seems to attract a large public unfailingly, and the project undertaken here is a risky one. The challenge was even more significant given that the connections between Picasso and tribal art might at this point be perceived as a closed subject, in-as-much as they have been thoroughly discussed and explored in a large number of publications in recent decades.
