Summary:Carnation is an important cutflower grown worldwide. Selecting the proper variety suitable to a specific locality is a big issue. Therefore the present study on evaluation of seven carnation varieties under polyhouse condition for their growth, yield and quality was conducted. Among the varieties. Dark Dona recorded highest plant height (82.52 cm), Soto registered highest flower stalk length (72.74 cm), maximum stem diameter in Sechelles (0.57 cm), and Queen Mary exhibited more number of laterals per plant (6.17), more number of flowers per plant (5.42) and more number of flowers per meter square (170.50). The neck diameter (0.48) and flower diameter (6.76) were maximum in Vincidor and White Dona, respectively. Vincidor has showed early flower bud initiation ( 116.98 days), early 50% flowering (140.64 days) without any calyx splitting. Out of seven varieties studied Vincidor was found to be a promising variety, followed by Soto and White Doha.
