Experiment TGV-2. Search for double beta decay of super(106)Cd

The search for double beta decay of super(106)Cd was performed at the Modane underground laboratory (France, 4800 m.w.e.) using the multi-detector spectrometer TGV-2. 16 samples (~13.6 g) of super(106)Cd with an enrichment of 75% were installed between neighbouring HPGe detectors and measured during...

Summary:The search for double beta decay of super(106)Cd was performed at the Modane underground laboratory (France, 4800 m.w.e.) using the multi-detector spectrometer TGV-2. 16 samples (~13.6 g) of super(106)Cd with an enrichment of 75% were installed between neighbouring HPGe detectors and measured during 12900 h. New half-life limits (at 90% CL) were obtained for 2vEC/EC decay of super(106)Cd to the ground state of super(106)Pd - T sub(1/2) > 4.2 x 10 super(20) y, and for 0vEC/EC resonant decay of super(106)Cd to 2741 keV and 2718 keV excited states of super(106)Pd - T sub(1/2) > 1.8 x 10 super(20)y and T sub(1/2) > 1.6 x 10 super(20)y respectively.
