Summary: | The alpha decay of super(270-301)117 super heavy nuclei is investigated within the Coulomb and proximity potential model for deformed nuclei. We have performed a systematic search for those isotopes of Z = 117 which may be detectable through experiments via alpha decay. We have predicted 3 alpha chains for super(293)117 and 6 alpha chains for super(294)117 by the comparison of alpha half-lives and spontaneous fission half-lives and it can be seen that our predictions go hand in hand with the experimental observations. Our study reveals that those isotopes of Z = 117 with A [> or =, slanted] 299 and with A [< or =, slant] 271 do not survive fission and thus the alpha decay is restricted within the range 272 [< or =, slant] A [< or =, slant] 298. Through our study, we have predicted 1 alpha chain from super(272,273,296-298)117, 2 alpha chains from super(274,275,295)117, 3 alpha chains from super(276,277,292)117 and 5 alpha chains from super(288-291)117. As our study predicts 5 alpha chains and 3 alpha chains consistently from super(288-291)117 and super(292)117, respectively, we hope these findings will provide a new guide for future experiments. |
