Summary:Tertiary units on the study area are Upper Oligocene-Lower Miocene Alibonca Formation and Burdigalian-Upper Miocene Malatya Volcanics. Alibonca Formation overlies unconformably Keban Metamorphics that is laterally and vertically associated with Malatya Volcanics. Twelve facies and three facies associations were identified in the Alibonca Formation. These facies are: horizontal bedded conglomerate, cross-bedded conglomerate, bedded sandstone, siltstone-fine grained sandstone, siltstone-claystone, organic-rich claystone, red mudstone, limestone, coal, algal packstone, bioclastic wackestone-packstone. These facies groups indicate alluvial fan, shallow lacustrine and carbonate shelf depositional environments.Original Abstract: Inceleme alanindaki Tersiyer birimleri Uest Oligosen-Alt Miyosen yasli Alibonca Formasyonu ve Burdigaliyen-Uest Miyosen yasli Malatya Volkanitleri ile temsil edilir. Keban Metamorfitlerini (Permo-Triyas) uyumsuz olarak uezerleyen Alibonca Formasyonu Malatya Volkanitleri ile yanal ve duesey yoende iliskilidir. Malatya Volkanitleri'ni uyumsuz olarak uezerleyen Alt Pleistosen yasli Meteris Tepe formasyonu, Uest Pleyistosen yasli Yoncali formasyonu tarafindan uyumlu olarak oertueluer. Alibonca Formasyonu'nda 12 fasiyes ve 3 fasiyes toplulugu tanimlanmistir. Bu fasiyesler; yatay tabakali konglomeralar (Fas. 1), duzlemsel capraz tabakali konglomeralar (Fas. 2), tabakali kumtaslari (Fas. 3), silttasi-ince taneli kumtasi (Fas. 4), silttasi-kiltasi (Fas. 5), organik malzemeli kiltasi (Fas. 6), kirmizi camurtasi (Fas. 7), kirectasi (Fas. 8), koemuer(Fas. 9), algli istiftasi-baglamtasi (Fas. 10), bentik foraminiferli istiftasi (Fas. 11) ve biyoklastik vaketasi-istiftaslaridir (Fas. 12). Buradaki fasiyes gruplari aluevyal yelpaze, goel ve karbonat selfi coekellerini olusturur.
