Summary:The recent electoral process in Chile represented major challenges for the political system. The premiere of automatic enrollment and voluntary voting generated much concern about the actual behavior of participation and voting preferences of Chileans. This article focuses on three main points to consider after this election: the prevalence of a low turnout coupled with the inability of the political system to mobilize new voters; the opportunity of the second government of Michelle Bachelet to carry out reforms demanded by the public; and the challenge of the right to maintain their influence in the political system after the crushing defeat at the polls.
