Summary:Industrial use of steels at low temperatures leads to different studies that tend to increase both capacity and security installations in this area. A cryogenic tank is very similar in appearance to other tanks, but its construction involved a greater welding methods, materials and special work technologies. The paper proposes the study of welding joints of austenitic stainless steel, respectively X6CrNiTH8-10, used to build cryogenic tanks to liquid nitrogen storage. Experimental investigations were performed on welded samples and samples with heat-treated after welding. Samples were investigated with non-destructive methods and spectral analysis, while the destructive testing by measuring hardness and toughness. The analysis of macro and microstructure was performed as well. The obtained results allow to improve quality of cryogenic steel and safe use in larger operating of studied steel.
