Cooling by adiabatic pressure application in La sub(0.7)Ca sub(0.3)MnO sub(3) magnetocaloric effect material

The effect of hydrostatic pressure on Curie temperature, the critical exponents and entropy change in La sub(0.7)Ca sub(0.3)MnO sub(3) are determined. The pressure increases the Curie temperature. The combined magnetic entropy change, due to both magnetic field and pressure application, is found to...

Summary:The effect of hydrostatic pressure on Curie temperature, the critical exponents and entropy change in La sub(0.7)Ca sub(0.3)MnO sub(3) are determined. The pressure increases the Curie temperature. The combined magnetic entropy change, due to both magnetic field and pressure application, is found to be significant. It suggests that manganites are suitable candidates as barocaloric refrigerants near room-temperature region.
