Summary:Synchronization and rapid seedling emergence are the commonly reported benefits of pre-sowing treatments on germination and seedling growth. Pre-sowing treatments shorten the emergence period and protect the seeds from biotic and abiotic factors during critical phase of seedling establishment. The area under mango is increasing rapidly owing to great demand for fresh fruits as well as processed products in the international market. Healthy and good quality plant material is the foundation of successful fruit industry in the country. So, this paper has reviewed the research work carried out by various scientists in India about the effect of pre-sowing treatments on germination, growth, vigor of mango and other fruits.
