Summary:Medical students and young physicians have little opportunity to examine patients with tuberculosis by themselves. This leads to less interest and a lack of knowledge toward tuberculosis, and doctor's delay in diagnosing tuberculosis has been remarkable. This symposium on "changing clinical features of pulmonary tuberculosis and its management' was held at a most oppotune moment. Dr. Wada made retrospective review on changing clinical features of tuberculosis in the last 25 years. She showed a reduction of primary infection type disease and increase of the proportion of aged patients, complications, tuberculous pleurisy and miliary tuberculosis in the elderly, doctor's delay, misdiagnosis and mass outbreaks.
