Observations about the presence of Gnathiids (Crustacea, Isopoda) on Mullus barbatus along the Tyrrhenian Sicilian coasts

This is the first record of Gnathiid isopod praniza larvae infestating red mullet (Mullus barbatus, Linnaeus, 1758) in the Southern Tyrrhenian Sea (Italy). The larvae were located on the gills. This study suggests that gnathiid parasite has no effect on the host growth.
