Isolation and properties of the restriction endonuclease SuaI from the thermoacidophilic archebacterium Sulfolobus acidocaldarius
A new restriction endonuclease SuaI has been isolated and purified from the extremely thermophilic acidophilic archebacterium Sulfolobus acidocaldarius . The enzyme is an isoschizomer of the restriction endonucleases of the BspRI type. It recognizes the tetranucleotide sequence GGCC and cleaves DNA...

Summary: | A new restriction endonuclease SuaI has been isolated and purified from the extremely thermophilic acidophilic archebacterium Sulfolobus acidocaldarius . The enzyme is an isoschizomer of the restriction endonucleases of the BspRI type. It recognizes the tetranucleotide sequence GGCC and cleaves DNA in the center of this sequence. The DNA of S. acidocaldarius is not cleaved by the enzyme. |
