Isolation and Determination of Cultural Characteristics of a New Highly CO sub(2) Tolerant Fresh Water Microalgae
The cultural characteristics of a highly carbon dioxide-tolerant freshwater microalgae were profiled. The strain was identified as the genus Chlorella and showed maximum growth at 10% CO sub(2)-enriched air. Good growth rates were observed at CO sub(2) concentrations up to 70%. The isolated strain f...

Summary: | The cultural characteristics of a highly carbon dioxide-tolerant freshwater microalgae were profiled. The strain was identified as the genus Chlorella and showed maximum growth at 10% CO sub(2)-enriched air. Good growth rates were observed at CO sub(2) concentrations up to 70%. The isolated strain fulfills the major requirements for treating flue gases, including high growth rate at high cell density as well as tolerance to elevated CO sub(2) concentrations. |
