Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in the Indoor and Outdoor Air of Three Cites in the U.S
Concentrations of 30 PAHs were measure inside and outside of 55 nomsmking residences in three US urban sites during June 1999-May 2000. Totaol PAH levels in outdoor samples collected in Los Angeles, CA; Houston, TX; and Elizabeth, NJ, were in the 4.2-64, 10-160, and 12-110 ng/m super(3) ranges, resp...

Summary: | Concentrations of 30 PAHs were measure inside and outside of 55 nomsmking residences in three US urban sites during June 1999-May 2000. Totaol PAH levels in outdoor samples collected in Los Angeles, CA; Houston, TX; and Elizabeth, NJ, were in the 4.2-64, 10-160, and 12-110 ng/m super(3) ranges, respectively. Respective indoor concentrations were 16-220, 21-310, and 22-350 ng/m super(3). PAH profiles of low molecular weight compounds in outdoor samples did not differ among the three cites, while profiles of 5-7 ring PAHs were markedly different, signalling different dominant PAH sources. Indoor sources had a strong effect on indoor concentrations of 3-ring PAHs. |
