Summary:In the present study, the effect of wear parameters like applied load, sliding velocity, sliding distance and weight percentage of Silicon Carbide on the dry sliding wear of the Aluminium Zinc alloy metal matrix composites have been investigated experimentally. Wear tests of Aluminium Zinc alloy metal matrix composites against AISI 1045 steel disc were carried out under dry sliding conditions using pin- on-disc test machine. A plan of experiments, based on Taguchi method, was performed to acquire data in controlled way and L sub( 27) orthogonal array along with the analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to investigate the influence of process parameters on the wear of alloy composites. Multiple linear regression analysis was carried out to develop relation of amount of wear with applied load, sliding velocity, sliding distance and weight percentage of Silicon Carbide. Confirmation tests were conducted to verily the experimental results from the mentioned correlations.
