Summary: | On the occasion of the exhibition Recipients on show at the Sala de Exposiciones de la Asociación de Ceramistas de Cataluña in Barcelona (2003), considers the work of the Spanish ceramist Isabel Barbaformosa. The author notes that Barbaformosa's work formed part of a series of works dedicated to the architect Antoni Gaudí on the 150th anniversary of his birth, and explains that she drew inspiration from the mosaics made of broken tiles in the Parc Güell in Barcelona. She considers Barbaformosa's experimentation with materials including earthenware, porcelain, iron, steel, platinum, and paper, and analyses the resulting installation consisting of a series of mosaic-like `receptacles laid out on tables. |
