Summary:In this article the problem of leaks detection from pipes under pressure is treated. A sonic method is presented as a solution for leaks detection. The method implies the analysis of sonic waves propagated through the targeted pipe. The sonic waves are generated by special devices. Using numerical modeling of sonic transmissions different situations of leaks position are investigated. The characteristics of sonic generators can be modified for optimum leak detection. The results are presented as pressure diagrams. The position of the leaks can be deduced comparing the pressure diagrams at different period of time: situation without and with new leaks on pipe.
