Summary:This paper presents a study about the theoretical sampling error in the quantitative minerography experimental procedure. This study was done applying the statistical inference concepts. It was possible to conceive a statistical model which predicts the experimental error and controls its standard deviation. It is noticed that this model, compared with real data from two iron ores samples, is efficient in aim of to build a particles count models with a previous determination of their standard deviation. It was noticed that if the plate constituents have been randomly sampled, the sampling procedure will presents a normal distribution and a predicted standard deviation. It was also observed the strong effect of the sample size and of their constituents amounts in the experimental procedure accuracy. The stabilization of standard deviation as the number of particles increases is an important result.
