Summary:In this paper was studied the alloy Al-1.5wt% Fe treated by a continuous laser beam Nd:YAG with 600 W of power and scan velocity of 40 mm/min. The studies of treated and untreated samples, only polished, included micro and macro polarization in sulfuric acidic media, 0.1 mol/l. Were realized microstructural characterizations, measurements of corrosion potentials, polarization resistance, corrosion rates and technical of cyclic voltametry. The obtained microstructure by the technique of laser surface melting was efficient to improve the corrosion resistance in the studied media, reducing the penetration rate around fourteen times. Significant changes were observed in Tafel plots, as well as the corrosion potential due to the surface modifications caused by the treatment.
