Summary:The problematization of the concept of service and the attention about "immaterial" production contribute to an understanding of the new working realities. This leads to distinguishing between classic work, with its own origins in industry, and non-classic work, in which the client and other actors can be involved in the productive or distributive process itself. From this analysis, an extension is derived, not only of the concept of work, but also of the labor relation, the control over the process of work and the social construction of occupation. These analytical extensions not only turn out to be pertinent in discovering old and new non-classic forms of work, but also in reconsidering the field of labor rights, collective identities and forms of organization of workers.
