Summary: | Among the NiTi-base shape memory alloys, NiTi(Nb) is of great importance for modern technique due to their remarkable transformation hysteresis expansion upon a proper cold pre-deformation. However, their applications are still limited by the high cost, determined by quite high required Nb proportion (9-21 at.%) and high processing exigencies by classical metallurgy. Although some recent results proved the possibility to reduce Nb content to 4-5 at.% without notable hysteresis decrease, processing cost is not diminished. In a previous research, the authors of this paper proved the possibility to obtain NiTi-Nb alloys, with 5 at.% Nb, in more advantageous and cost-effective conditions by Reactive Processing (RP) from elemental powders. By the research presented in this paper, it has been established the possibility to expand hysteresis of the obtained by RP NiTi-Nb alloys by hot rolling followed by deformation in martensitic state with appropriate deformation degrees. |
