Summary:Laser welding of metallic materials based on the production of melt in material. Melting front propagation inside the material provides enough molten zone to achieve weld. Depth of molten zone is described according to the intensity of laser beam and the time of interaction between laser and material. The results were compared with those obtained for thick carbon steel plates. Modeling with regression functions showed that the measured and calculated weld depth have the same type of variation. In the experiments were varied laser beam power, welding speed and the distance between the piece and focal plane called defocusing. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
