Summary:In 2007, there were 23.6 million people or 7.8% of the population in the United States who have diabetes: 17.9 million people (Diagnosed) and 5.7 million people (Undiagnosed). According to the American Heart Association, stroke will cost almost $68.9 billion in both direct and indirect costs in 2007. Worldwide, every 2 seconds, there is 1 death from Heart disease; every 5 seconds, 1 death from heart attack; every 6 seconds, 1 death from stroke. Therefore, preventing those diseases is very important to everyone. In this thesis, we develop a health advisory expert system to enhance and to update their health care knowledge and to improve their healthcare. It diagnoses and provides healthcare advices in the areas of diabetes, and heart related diseases including advices on blood pressures, and cholesterol conditions. The expert system is knowledgeable. It not only performs intelligent diagnoses but also produces inferential advices for the interrelated diseases involving diabetes, blood pressures, and cholesterol conditions. Moreover, it performs deep diagnoses for the pregnant Asian women and for unknown types of diabetics (i.e., the type I or Type II diabetics). Also, it generates a risk report to remind patients to pay attention on their health. Our Intelligent Advisory Service for Healthcare provides the efficient and effective way to take care of the patient's health, to promote the human's quality of life and to provide disease monitoring and control to alleviate or to reduce the medical condition. In the long-term, this Advisory Expert System will reduce our Medicare investments and will provide high quality health care services.
