Summary:With the increasing number of elderly people in modern society, the market of medical care is emerging and has dramatically increased in recent years. However, there is yet little research focused on developing a service platform for distant medical care. Hence, this research attempts to apply radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to develop a distant medical care service platform (DMCSP) to support home-based medical care. The DMCSP functions include modules like: situation monitoring, diagnosis, prognosis, inventory management, and service scheduling and dispatching. To describe the proposed DMCSP clearly, this study applies Unified Modeling Language (UML) as a tool to clarify the system analysis and design. Finally, the differences between the as-is model and the to-be model of medical care for the elderly are demonstrated for emphasizing the efficiency and effectiveness of home-based distant medical care service.
