Summary:Palavras chave: homem, saúde mental, suicídio ABSTRACT Suicide is a global, complex and multifactorial public health problem, crossed by social issues, including gender issues, resulting in a greater recurrence among men. From the perspective of studies on the social construction of masculinities, this study aims to discuss and problematize the implications of gender in the occurrences of suicide among men in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The results indicate that gender issues and the process of social construction of masculinities play an important role in suicidal behavior, being related from motivations to the methods used by men. Keywords: men, mental health, suicide Etimologicamente, o termo suicídio deriva da junção latina entre sui (a si próprio) e caedere (homicídio, matar) e pode ser encontrado em textos ingleses do século XVII (Botega, 2022).
