Summary: | During 1953, the centenary year of the RPS, the position of president was held by Bertram Sinkinson OBE HonFRPS (1909-1985). Bertie, as he was known, was an accomplished studio and commercial photographer as well as a respected landscape photographer. He trained with the long-established Birmingham studio of H J Whitlock before setting up his own studio in Stafford, where he remained until he retired. Bertie joined the RPS in 1931, gaining his Fellowship in 1932. He was a Fellow of the Institute of British Photographers, later becoming its president and serving in the same role for the Stafford Photographic Society and the Photographic Convention. He was also chair of the London Salon. |
