Summary:Gerver explains how important it is to focus on the future of education. Educators and Government were looking at the future of education and how the system could best meet the needs of an increasingly uncertain and changeable future. Thanks to the work of global experts like Sir Ken Robinson, the author of the 1999, All Our Futures report, the vision was focused, inclusive, and driven by the challenges of tomorrow. The group involved in that report were diverse and included Nobel Prize-winning scientists and economists, highly respected experts from the cultural and arts sector, educators, and policy makers. Together, they explored how education could evolve, and whilst not providing a conclusive answer, it was the catalyst for the constructive pathway that followed. There is a need to have a thoughtful conversation about education, with long-term aims and progress.
