Summary:In the context of contemporary literature, recurring topics such as the experience of war, trauma and social retrieval have stand out. This essay has as an objective present how The beast from the heart explores this themes through trauma poetics. Based on studies previous to Müller’s work, it proposes manifestation of traumatic experiences through rhetorical and narrative resources in the author's writing: symbolic objects, secrecy, derealization, etc. Also, it argues the claiming characteristics of singular dramas in social conflicts, in this case, during Ceausescu’s dictatorship; to meet this end, it analyzes the individual dramas of different characters throughout the novel. Finally, the argumentative tour shows a stance that rejects the socially forgiving tone as a chance of overcoming trauma.
