Summary:Bridges (1985, 84) indicated that efficient motor skill in piano playing allows "ease of execution and the greatest potential for creativity in interpretation." [...]this research study explored the feasible ways to incorporate video modeling used in sports into piano studies, helping pianists improve movement efficiency and perform more advanced repertoire without technical barriers. Amara et al.'s (2015) study compared the traditional method based on verbal feedback and the video modeling method in teaching physical education students how to navigate and clear hurdle races. The video modeling group used motion analysis software, Dartfish, to provide video feedback of self-modeling, expert-modeling and model's superposition. For the experiment group, students observed their own performance on a monitor as they conducted, and they also used video cameras to record their performances, replaying the videos for self-evaluation.The results showed that using guided-practice materials with the videotape recorder had significant effects on developing students'conducting skills. Three of the seven instructional parts incorporated the video modeling method, including P2/B and P2/C in the second lesson and P3/C in the third lesson. [...]a test "T"follows immediately after each instructional part"P"to trackan individual's progress. There were 14 total tests including 12 tests during the first three weekly lessons, post-test I (week4) and post-test II (week 5).These tests had the same requirement: playing "Polka" hands separately and hands together except forTl/A, which only required a hands-separate performance because the hands-together performance had not been introduced.
