Summary:Over the last few years the importance of using modern technologies in education has grown rapidly, and online training is also becoming more and more important in the language learning process. Secondly, the level of intercultural communication is significantly increasing, which in turn means improving foreign language skills. In addition, an increasingly important role is intended for adult training as an integral part of lifelong learning. For these reasons, the lecturers of the Language Department of Turība University, in cooperation with foreign partners, have developed an online training course for adults "Intercultural knowledge and language skills as a means of developing 21st century skills". The project modules have been translated into 10 European languages and are presented in the form of stories/scenarios. The content is linked to the rich intangible cultural heritage of Europe in the six partner countries. The goal of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the created online course; research question: whether the created online learning platform is able to meet the needs of the learner; used research methods: analysis of theoretical literature and sources; surveying; data processing and analysis. Conclusions: the majority of learners highly appreciated the course, which offers modern, non-traditional ways of language learning; learning style and different types of methods motivate adults for lifelong learning; the online platform could be a valuable learning tool for anyone who wants to improve their intercultural awareness and language skills; however, the platform needs improvement.
