Summary:Kellaway discusses the history of American Art Review magazine, highlighting its 50th anniversary in 2023. He states that magazine exists because Architectural Digest said they would publish it. It was 1972 and he was 27 and selling printing but had an idea that the Bicentennial coming in 1976 would stimulate an interest in America's artistic heritage. Digest thought it was perfect for their growth plans, he began calling, with a dial phone, experts in the field that had been suggested to him by Donelson Hoopes and E. Maurice Bloch, who were in Los Angeles where he lived.
