Summary:This paper provides insight into entrepreneurial ecosystems through a systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis. The aim of the study is to get a broad overview of the research on entrepreneurial ecosystems in order to improve understanding. To fulfil this aim, 145 papers were analysed and examined in terms of e.g. discipline, time, geography, methodology, focus and future direction. Six different research streams were identified. The study offers insights into the current state of research, key areas and the future of the field. It also identified research gaps in the field of entrepreneurial ecosystems. This paper has analysed the current state of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in a broad perspective and thus helps researchers and practitioners to get an overview of the topic.
