Summary:Arthur Dove: Miniature Laboratories is on view at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth Texas, though 27 August 2023. More than forty experimental works on paper by American modernist Arthur Dove are examined in Arthur Dove: Miniature Laboratories. Gifted to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art by Dove's son, William, in 1987, these featured works were created by Dove between 1940 and 1946, when he was living in a small waterfront cottage in Centerport NY, with his wife, the painter Helen Torr. Through pairing these works on paper alongside dynamic conservation imagery and loans from the Heckscher Museum of Art in Long Island, New York, this exhibition offers fresh insight into Dove's creative experimentation. This exhibition highlights both her important yet under acknowledged role as a caregiver and her remarkable talents as an artist, which were largely overlooked during her lifetime.
