Summary:Cardiovascular diseases not only represent the first cause of death in the world, but sometimes cause huge and irreversible physical and neurological disabilities in patients who suffer from them. Although historically the purpose of doctors has always been to treat diseases at the moment of their onset, in recent decades the prevention of the diseases themselves has proved to be of fundamental importance, both in the patient in an apparent state of good health (i.e. primary prevention), and in the patient with a previous cardiovascular event (i.e. secondary prevention).
