Summary:Materials and Methods: Facility-based, observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional epidemiological study was conducted in Rabies Immunization Clinic, Medical College, Kolkata, among 110 animal bite victims (>18 year age) who are attending for PEP during study period (January 2022 to June 2022). According to the World Health Organization report, rabies is prevalent in more than 150 countries and every year about 55,000 people die due to this fatal disease,[1] with our country alone responsible for about 20,000 deaths. Aims and Objectives The objectives of the study are as follows: * To elicit knowledge and practice regarding prevention of rabies among animal bite victims attending Rabies Immunization Clinic, Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata * To estimate economic burden of study participants related to post-exposure prophylaxis * To determine association between different demographic and socio-economic factors, knowledge and economic burden of study participants with practice related to prevention of rabies (i.e., proper wound cleaning and timely seeking for PEP).
