Summary:Metabolic syndrome (Met S) is one of the most common disorder which gives rise to various complications mainly, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study to investigate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its associated determinants among the adults of Pakistan. Demographical data and determination of lifestyle was evaluated by questionnaire developed by WHO, and interview. Informed consent was taken from all the participants. Analysis showed that females are more prone to Met S as compared to males. Analysis of age group showed that above the age of 60 years, risk of affected from Met S is increased, (36%, P: 0.0001) according to IDF criteria and (17.56%, P: 0.0001) according to ATP. It was concluded that females are more prone to MetS as compared to males, age above 60 is also a risk factor as well as lack of physical activity and adoption of sedentary lifestyle.
