Summary:Healthcare systems generate large volumes of data from diverse sources. The data is complex and challenging to manage. The exponential growth in healthcare data brings more data storage, retrieval, and analysis challenges using traditional approaches. Cloud computing and virtualizations enable organizations to store and process data effectively and safely for the healthcare sector in today's technology landscape. Also, business intelligence (BI) offers a wide range of solutions in reporting, visualization, and predictive analytics. Assessment of BI solutions requires consideration of multiple perspectives such as people, processes, and technology. Therefore, a rational decision approach is needed to implement cloud computing in combination with BI successfully. This research aims to build a decision model for a comprehensive assessment of BI software/cloud platforms targeting medium-to-large hospitals using hierarchical decision modeling and expert judgments. The current model is designed, developed, and validated with the help of subject matter experts in BI and healthcare. This decision modeling research is based on the quantification of expert judgments for the assessment and ranking of decision alternatives. It is anticipated that this decision model will be beneficial in assisting healthcare organizations with a comprehensive assessment of BI platforms. This research aims to build the decision model for a comprehensive Assessment of Business Intelligence software/cloud platforms for medium-to-large hospitals using hierarchical decision modeling and expert judgment.Hierarchical Decision Modeling (HDM) is a practical methodology for evaluating technological alternatives. HDM methodology requires a subject matter expert judgment quantification to provide the relative ranking of the perspectives, criteria, and sub-criteria.
