Summary:The paper offers the reader a survey on the most used solutions for simulating the main electrical assemblies of an electrical vehicle (EV). These include batteries, electrical motors and power converters with their control. Choosing the best solution when comes to a certain design must be made as a compromise between model complexity, its accuracy and elapsed simulation time. Comparative results will highlight the above-mentioned attributes, offering the reader a clear image regarding his possible options. The methods presented in this paper were tested by the authors and all can be simulated on real-time platforms. This feature eases the transition when it comes to validated simulation results with experimental ones. Hence, passing from real-time simulation to hardware in the loop (HiL) becomes simple when engaging such models.
