Summary: | The research conducted in this study fell within the realm of strategic human resource management. Specifically, this study researched how the implementation of a health and wellness coaching program affects the defense intelligence contracting workforce and endeavored to answer questions related to the impact of a health and wellness coaching program and effective health and wellness coaching strategies for defense intelligence contractor employee professional development participation. The subject organization leadership perceived the organization to be facing ongoing challenges in low workforce completion of professional development goals. A quasi-experimental study was conducted, including a total of ten Coaching Program Group participants and ten Control Group participants, all from the defense intelligence contracting workforce. Triangulation of questionnaire and coaching journal data was conducted leveraging the MAXQDA qualitative data analysis software to analyze the study results, which revealed that participation in a health and wellness coaching program increases participant completion of professional development goals. Additionally, the coaching strategies of accountability, regular meetings, structured goal setting, and reflective feedback were shown to be particularly strong motivators for participants in achieving professional development goals. Additional research is warranted into holistic health and wellness coaching programs on larger scales. |
