Summary:Therapeutic interventions for remediation of reading disabilities are still controversial, supporters of different therapies point to the success of their approaches with equal conviction. Among all these therapies verbal self-instructional treatment programme has shown considerable promises in improving the performance of reading disabled children. However, there are some unresolved issues on VSI and reading disabilities. Factors involved in facilitating the maintenance and generalisation treatment effects need to be identified. This paper suggests for further research to make VSI an effective psychotherapy technique.
